MDK-7958, also known as K-Ras(G12C) inhibitor 12, irreversibly binds to and inhibits a common oncogenic mutant, K-Ras(G12C). The last four digits of MDS-7958's CAS registry number are used in its name. MDK-7958 relies on the mutant cysteine for binding and therefore does not affect the wild-type protein.
